Home to majestic peaks, abundant nature, and diverse culture, Langtang Valley is by far a picturesque valley. We love the experience of trekking in the valley every time. So you might as well.

It begins with a vivid ride of 6-7 hours out of Kathmandu. The ride takes you to Syabrubesi, the beginning point of the trek. Then, the walk progresses through Langtang Valley, the rich Langtang National Park, and attractive landscapes.

Indeed, this walk takes you from the lower Langtang region to the higher one. By trekking via stops like Lama Hotel, Ghodatabela, Mundu, Langtang Village, and Kyanjin Gompa, you will finally reach Tserko Ri(5,000m). By this point, you will have myriad engrossing experiences on this exciting journey.

As you know, Langtang Region is known for its panoramic valleys, vast pastures, diverse landscapes, lush nature, and distinctive culture. You get to experience all these beautiful things in the region. Yet, the two best things about Langtang Valley are its awe-inspiring mountain peaks and unique Tibetan culture.

In the valley, you have peaks such as Dorje Lakpa, Langshisha, Gang Chhenpo, Langtang Lirung, Yala Peak, Naya Kanga, and more. You can see many Tibetan peaks too from here. Kyanjin Ri and Tserko Ri are the best vantage points for mountain views.

Regarding the region's culture, Langtang is the abode of Tamangs, a unique Himalayan tribe. The people migrated from Tibet centuries ago. Hence, we can see the Tibetan culture of these people. Their food, drinks, lifestyle, and beliefs all are unique. Also, the ancient Buddhist monasteries, gompas, mani walls, and prayer flags make the journey more spiritual.

Overall, this journey from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi and Syabrubesi to Tserko Ri is worth it. Without wasting much time, you can be in luring nature and the merry culture of Langtang Valley from Kathmandu. You will see mountains, villages, rivers, people, animals, trees, and many more.

Welcome to the land of Langtang Valley. We will receive you upon your touchdown at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. With a warm welcome, we’ll help you locate your hotel and check in. You’ll surely need some time to relax after a long flight; thus, we will leave you at the hotel.

We'll meet again later in the evening for a welcome dinner. We'll enjoy the local cuisine and get to know each other better. Then you’ll get back to the hotel. Spend the night in Kathmandu.

Kathmandu, in itself, is a place to discover. The ancient valley has many historical, cultural, and religious sites. So on this day, we will stroll around some of the must-visit sites of the valley. We will explore Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa, Bouddhanath Stupa, and Basantapur Durbar Square. If time allows, we’ll even visit others.

Alongside this, we will prepare for tomorrow’s leave. Our team will arrange logistics, permits, and things for us. If needed, we will also do last-minute shopping. In this way, we will spend the second day of the trip in Kathmandu.

Embrace yourself. Now we will leave Kathmandu for Syabrubesi in the morning. On this drive to Syabrubesi, the starting point of Langtang Valley Trek, we will have great views of villages, hills, greenery, mountains, and more. The 7-8 hours drive will turn timeless with those good views.

Right before arriving in Syabrubesi, we’ll pass Dunche, a bustling stop on the banks of Trisuli. And eventually, we will reach Syabrubesi. After a long day's drive, we will have a pleasant sleep in Syabrubesi. The following day is exciting.

In the early morning, we will prepare to leave Syabrubesi behind. It will be the first day of the trek. So with a high drive, we will enter the woods of Langtang National Park. The park, one of the oldest in the country, will entertain throughout the day. Alongside, we will wayfare on the banks of Bhote Koshi River, the river originating in Tibet.

Most of the day will have scenic strolls. As we walk on, we will see rhododendrons and oaks. If it is Spring in Nepal, we will see the colorful flowers all along the trail. The walk through jungles will also bring suspension bridges at times. And there will be places where we will stop for brunch or tea. The beautiful and long day will end after reaching Lama Hotel. Overnight in a teahouse.

Now we’ll leave Lama Hotel by leaping through a lush forest. Ahead, we will come across an awe-inspiring sight of Langtang Lirung. It will be a scenic day with a lot of good pictures. However, the walk will be more ascending than the earlier day as we have to cross 3,500m+ today.

After some morning walking, we will cross Ghodatable(3,000m). This is where we will catch the fantastic Langtang Lirung for the first real-time. We will find wrecked and deserted houses along the trail due to the 2015 Earthquake. The whole Langtang area was devastated by the disaster. But it is now all up.

As we walk ahead, we will see Tamang hamlets and seasonal shelters of Yak herders. This process will continue until we reach Langtang Village, the newly built village. New Langtang village is just 100m above the ruins of the old Langtang Village. We will get into a teahouse in Langtang village. Evening and overnight in the village.

Today is an easy day. Thus, with no rush, we will start the day gradually after a slow breakfast. As we leave Langtang Village, we will trek toward Mundu Village. The modern-turned-village is just half an hour ahead of Langtang village. Reaching there, we will pause for a while in the village.

Then we will continue our walk through a gradual hill. It will be a Yak pasture and an extensive view of the valley in front of us. Our hike is still remaining.  So we will cross several glacial rivers, watermills, moraines, and bridges.

And finally, we will reach Kyanjin Gompa. Kyanjin Gompa is a scenic place to go. It has beautiful views of mountains, gompas, houses, and monasteries. We can also visit the famous cheese factory in the village. We can hike up to Kyanjin Ri to make the day more enjoyable. The place offers Dorje Lakpa, Langshisha, Gang Chenpo, and other peaks. Overnight in Kyanjin Gompa.

We will wake up and catch some stunning morning views. Today, we will climb the highest point of Langtang Valley Trek, Tserko Ri(5,000m). So eating a fulfilling breakfast, we will head on the trail. The path is scenic but arduous as well. However, there is no need to rush as we will have enough time.  So we will climb gradually.

This climb might be challenging for beginners or even experts. But the views after the upgrade and from the top of Tserko Ri are simply heart-cheering. We’ll have the best trek moment as Langtang Lirung, Yala Peak, Naya Kanga, Yubra Himal, and Tibetan peaks are visible from this position. We will enjoy this summit before we descend back to Kyanjin Gompa through the same route. Overnight in Kyanjin Gompa.

From Kyanjin Gompa, we now take the road back to Lama Hotel. The route will be the same and the views too. We will try to recall everything we went through on this retracing hike. The walk will be much easier this time as we will have a descending trail. We will make it to Lama Hotel by walking via villages, monasteries, mani walls, forests, yak pastures, and streams. Overnight in Lama Hotel.

We will leave Lama Hotel by joining a downgoing trail. The trail will take us through a forest of Langtang National Park. We will walk, listening to the sound of the woods and the animals living there. If lucky, we will catch some animals like Langur, Red Panda, and more.

After the quiet time through the forests, we will reach the terraced field area. The villages of Bamboo and Rimche will come along before Syabrubensi. This way, after 5-6 hours of walking, we will reach Syabrubesi. Overnight in Syabrubesi.

The trek is done here. Now it is time for some driving.  So we will take a scenic drive to Kathmandu from Syabrubesi. Along the way, we will catch the fantastic sides of Nepal. Listening to your favorite songs during this drive can be a great thing. We will reach Kathmandu after 6-7 hours. Our Langtang Valley trip will finish here, and you will take a worthy rest in your hotel.

The next day, we will guide you to the departure terminal of Kathmandu International Airport. As per the timing, we will prefer the departure. In this way, we will separate our paths until the next time. Safe Journey back home!

                        Essential Information

Best Time for Langtang Valley Trek

Autumn and Spring are the two best seasons for Langtang Valley Trek. That is, March to May(Spring) and September to November(Autumn) are the most suitable months for Langtang Region’s exploration.

The weather during these two seasons is dry, vibrant, constant, and inviting. Langtang Region, which is heavenly, looks amazingly divine during these two seasons.

Plus, you get to experience all the suitable conditions for strolling around. Stable weather, bright visibility, clear and unobstructed mountains, and warm temperatures are the offerings of Autumn and Spring. Thus, Nepal gets too busy welcoming many visitors through these two windows. If you want the best weather, choose any of the seasons.

FYI, Spring is more memorable for flowering flowers in the mountains, mainly rhododendron. Also, the two big festivals in Nepal, Dashain & Tihar, fall in the season. As a result, you get bonus experiences in and around Nepal.

Likewise, Autumn is more transparent and vibrant due to the monsoon season. When Monsoon leaves Nepal, it offers washed and crystal-clear Nepal to Autumn. Thus, Autumn is extra special for this reason.

However, Nepal is less crowded in Winter and Monsoon, the two low trekking seasons. June to August(Monsoon) and December to February(Winter), these two seasons are not that suitable for treks. Although, we can do Langtang Trek in both windows. Monsoon brings rainy weather, and Winter is all about cold weather. Thus, a few visitors prefer these two seasons.

If you can be in Langtang when Monsoon and Winter are not fully active, you can have a serene trekking experience. You can have a peaceful time on the trail while exploring the countryside. Therefore, early or late Winter and Monsoon months can be a smart pick for the trek.
